In 1847, when work on Roorkee Ganga Canal started, under supervision of them Governor General Sir George Everest, Surveying Instruments were brought from Britain. Roorkee's local engineers & articians first involved in repairing them and after wards slowlly gradually learnt the trade of manufacturing Survey Instruments. Now with a history of sesquicentenary, Roorkee is known world wide for its Quality Drawing & Surveying instruments as well as Nautical Instruments, Gifts & Decor.
